I am so grateful to SH for such a wonderful introduction to printmaking; the coaching was incredibly clear, making the entire process feel effortless.

From the start, the atmosphere was so homey and relaxed that it served as a much-needed sanctuary for my high stress levels. I truly felt like the session was a healing process, offering me a beautiful space for self-exploration when I needed it most.

It was impressive to work with such professional-grade tools, which really elevated the hands-on experience. I can’t recommend this session enough to anyone(all aged) looking for a meaningful and transformative creative experience.

SH was the one who introduced me to printmaking, and I honestly could not have asked for a better guide.

I have always loved Chinese calligraphy, but I am not very confident in art or hands-on craft. At first, I even wondered: if I already love calligraphy, why printmaking? Why not just write it or print it directly? But through this experience, I discovered that printmaking brings calligraphy into a completely different dimension. The carved block, the pressure, the inking, and even the choice of washi paper all create unexpected textures, depth, and character. The same words can take on a completely different feeling depending on the process. That was where I found the magic.

What made this experience so special was how thoughtfully she planned everything from start to finish. She did not just teach casually. She designed the whole journey end to end — from selecting the right materials, preparing the tools, choosing suitable washi paper, and discussing different printmaking techniques, to explaining which tools and inks would give the best results for the effect I wanted.

What I appreciated most was her level of care and attention to detail. She even taught me how to protect the plate properly so I can reuse it in future, which shows how much thought she puts into both the process and the outcome. She also guided me in choosing the right colours and helped me experiment across different surfaces, including T-shirts, tote bags, and paper.

The final outcome was something I am genuinely proud of, and it would not have happened without her patience, taste, and technical guidance. SH made printmaking feel approachable, intentional, and deeply enjoyable. She has a wonderful ability to translate artistic vision into a process that even someone less confident in art can follow and enjoy. I would wholeheartedly recommend learning from her.

During my last visit to Singapore, I signed up for SHNG’s one to one Tote and Block Printing workshop that takes about a day. I have a traditional illustration background, but I have never done this type of printmaking before and have always been curious about it.

SHNG expertly planned out my whole workshop programme tailored to my present artistic skills and experience. To start with, she made a selection of my existing artworks that can be converted into a design for printmaking. I am very impressed with SHNG’s ability to quickly recognise something that makes a worthy print design and how to improve on it.

Throughout the workshop, SHNG very patiently explained the printmaking techniques and its tools; from the different types of awls and presses to the variety of printmaking materials and surfaces at hand. She also entertained all the very specific questions thrown at her along the way. Under her relaxed but sure guidance, I became more and more confident and thoroughly enjoyed myself with the whole process. It is like a form of art therapy!

Thank you very much, SHNG, for being a wonderful teacher and for introducing me to the world of printmaking! I really appreciate your generosity in sharing your intensive knowledge on this subject. Now, I am already thinking of my next projects!

Recently, I learned the production of tote bag in SHNG Studio. From sketching to engraving to rubbing, and finally adjusting the mold to print on the canvas bag, I was always full of uncertainties and unexpected surprises. Finally, I opened the curtain with great anxiety and found that every small flaw caused by my shaking hands had its own unique charm.

I would like to thank SHNG very much for her patient guidance and encouragement. She not only has rich professional knowledge, but also can let us master the skills in a simple and understandable way. Finally, I, a novice with no experience, can have a work that I am very satisfied with. It's pretty amazing!

The learning process is immersive and decompressed, allowing people to relax themselves, forget the pressure, and devote themselves to carving, which is really a wonderful and interesting experience!

非常有意思的一次体验！首先真的要赞一下shng的工作室，特别有自己的风格！光是呆在这里就感觉身心得到了放松🥹！！！这也是本人第一次接触版画，之前本人其实对绘画方面是有些恐惧的（因为自己实在是不太善长😭），但是这次体验过程中完全不会有之前那样的心里压力，因为shng真的是一步一步的带着我们从了解版画到制作我们自己的作品，中间真的是一直一直鼓励我们！感觉自己快要被夸上天了！😆第一次在艺术创作上得到这么大的肯定，真的超级超级开心！最后真的不得不夸一下自己选的chiikawa印出来的效果真的超级超级好！我真的超级超级喜欢啊啊啊啊！
